Earlier this year, we lost a beloved luminary, leader, and advocate of our work. Mark Lange was a guiding light. First introduced to us as a consultant through the Stanford ACT project amidst organizational uncertainties from the pandemic, Mark then doubled down on his commitment to our mission of ending the death penalty, joining our Board of Directors and immediately instilled a sense of resolve and hope.
Mark taught and shared with us many things. Beyond helping us with financial forecasting and strategic planning, Mark taught us that we were worth the ask, that our work mattered, and we deserved support. He shared with us his contacts, his seemingly infinite knowledge, and he opened his home to our clients, formerly incarcerated, giving an opportunity for them to share with his close friends the stories of their journey.
We are forever grateful for Mark’s generosity, leadership, and kindness. Mark’s legacy with FPJ will live on—our work of arriving at a new name, Full Picture Justice, first began as an idea hatched from the creative nest of Mark’s brain, and in Mark’s honor, we continue our pursuit of an end to the death penalty through stories of people’s hope, healing, and resilience—for which Mark stood, sought, and lived.
Mark, thank you for everything. We miss ya.
With love,
Full Picture Justice Staff and Board of Directors
